January 31 - February 4, 2007
On January 31, 2007, 72 poets will converge on the streets of Vancouver, British Columbia where they will duke it out poetically until one remains standing as the Individual World Poetry Slam Champion!!!
IWPS is an international Poetry Slam competition featuring 72 of the world's best poetry slammers, competing for cash, publication honours, and bragging rights. Past winners have included 2-time champion Buddy Wakefield and last year's winner, Mike Mcgee, both of whom are honorary Vancouverites; so there is already somewhat of a local connection to this entire thing. This is the first Individual World Poetry Slam Championship ever held outside of the US, the first in Canada, and it will be the largest collection of the most amazing poets ever assembled in Vancouver or anywhere in Canada.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS Registration for iWPS 2007 is FULL. But fear not, there are two slots held for the 1st Nations slam and the Last Chance slam. So if you can get to Vancouver by the 31st, you still have one of two chances to compete! FMI, visit the main page for the schedule. The Volunteer List is FULL. All new volunteer applicants will be waitlisted. Thank you for the hard core support! All pre-order tickets are SOLD OUT!! If you have not purchased a festival pass, tickets are still available on a first come, first served basis at the door. |
